Yoke Ng

Yoke Ha Yee Ng was born on May 23, 1923 in China's Canton province. After having seven children, Yoke Ha and her family immigrated to Minnesota in 1968 and began working at the Nankin Chinese Restaurant. In 1972, she and her family opened up their own Chinese take-out business called Asia Chow Mein. During the first year of the business, Yoke Ha would take the bus from Southwest Minneapolis to Columbia Heights. With little English skills, she would open, take orders, and cook at the restaurant by herself. Yoke Ha enjoyed playing mah jong and socializing with her friends on the weekends, practicing Tai-Chi, listening to Chinese opera, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a sweet and easygoing mother with a cheerful smile. One of four siblings, she is the last of her generation, and is survived by her children; William (Rui Xing) Ng, Paul (Grace) Wong, Pauline (Don) Park, Jennifer Chinn, Timothy (Winnie) Ng, Jeffrey (Cindy) Ng and Emily Kor; grandchildren, Benjamin (Jasmine) Ng, Melissa (Brandin) Johnson, Mark (Ada) Wong, Nancy Wong, Janet (Hartono) Halim, Peter Wong, Kevin (Joanna) Park, Ryan (Natacha) Park, Michael (Tina) Park, Michelle (Erik) Miner, Dennis (Candy) Chinn, Sylvia Chinn, Myron (Deanne) Chinn, Wayne (Jennifer) Ng, Alan (Tanya) Ng, Tommy Ng, Katie Ng, Nathan Ng, Brandon Ng, Nicholas Kor and Sophia Kor; great-grandchildren, Kairi Johnson, Jaxton Halim, Eliana Halim, Karina Park, Linnea Park, Maria Londono, Lily Park, Matias Londono, Cora Park, Calvin Park, Logan Miner, Camden Ng and Bella Ng; and many nieces and nephews.

Ng, Yoke Ha (Yee), age 92 of Columbia Heights, passed away March 4, 2016. Visitation on Sun, March 6th, from 2-5PM at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley. Funeral service 2PM Mon, March 7th with a visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Research.
