William Ekstrom

William “Bill” Ekstrom, age 71, of Fridley/Blaine passed away peacefully on July 15 surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by wife, Nicky; and parents, Herbert and Alice Ekstrom. Bill is survived by loving wife, Sue; children, Pete (Gina), Mandy, Aaron, Susie, and Sarah (Dustin); and grandchildren, James (Samantha), John, Joe, Lizzie, Ben, and Brandon.

Bill grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Harding High School in 1964. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam aboard the USS Washburn and USS Ajax. He went onto a long career in automotive equipment and parts sales. Bill pursued a variety of hobbies, but his lifelong passion was following the Great Lakes freight ships that sailed into Duluth.

A visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Highway 65 NE, Fridley, on Thursday, July 19; from 5:00-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Dr, Mounds View, on Friday, July 20; at 11:00AM with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
