Virginia “Ginny” (Watts) Steinmetz, age 94, died peacefully, on August 5, 2023. Ginny was born November 18, 1928 in Decatur IL, as a child she lived in Monticello, IL and Exeland, WI. She graduated from UW Eau Claire with a teaching degree. She met her husband Jack, while working at Ross’s Teal Lake Lodge in northern Wisconsin. Jack and Ginny were married in La Crosse, Wisconsin and celebrated an amazing 70 years together. They had 4 children; Jane, Margie, David, Jim. During their retirement years they loved spending time with family and friends at their lake home at Fox Lake, MN. Ginny was an amazing cook and family time was always planned around the dinner table. In between gourmet meals she enjoyed gardening, reading, especially politics.
Ginny is defined by her faith and her love for her family. Our lives have been shaped by her wisdom and love.
Preceded in death by loving husband of 70 years, John “Jack" and son David. Survived by her children, Jane (Scott) Weiss, Marge (Jim) Richardson, Jim (Kay) Steinmetz; grandchildren, Sarah (Shaun) LaBarre, John (Sue) Weiss, Peter (Becca) Weiss, Tom (Becca) Richardson, Annie (A.J) Smyth, Brad Steinmetz, and John Steinmetz; 7 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday Sept 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM at Fridley United Methodist Church, 680 Mississippi St NE, Fridley, MN 55432. Interment at Hillside Cemetery.
