Virgil was born in Wheaton, MN on December 10, 1938.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Martha Beyer; brothers, Oscar and Arling; sisters, Evelyn, Helen, Lois, and Inez.  

Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Ihla Beyer; children, Terry (Kathy) Beyer and Sherry Beyer; grandchildren, Aaron, Laura, and Lindsay; sister, Corrine (Stan) Aldrich; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He served as a past president in the Sno Baron's Snowmobile Club and the Mounds View Lions Club. He was active in New Brighton Sportsman Club and International Harvester Club. 

He owned Beyer's Excavating for 45 years. He was very proud of receiving the 2016 Citizen of the Year for Mounds View, MN. His greatest joys were his family and his Farmall Tractors. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and watching NASCAR. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11AM with visitation at 9AM at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2848 County Road H2, Mounds View. Burial at Hillside Cemetery following a luncheon at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church in Virgil's name.
