Vern Pierce was born on January 25th, 1954 in Rice Lake Wisconsin to Vernon
and Peggy Pierce. Vern had two daughters, Jennifer Pierce and Larissa
Squier, from his first marriage. Vern has four grandchildren Arik, Ariel,
Kailey and Megan. A stepson Christopher Murphy, and his son Dylan Murphy.
Vern had a passion for racing where he met his loving wife Barb, of the
past 27 years.
Barb and Vern were married in Arizona, where they lived for 25 years.
While in Arizona Vern sold real estate as a specialist in
handicap accessible housing. Vern was an avid bowler for over 20 years and
competed in wheelchair tournaments, and was part of the wheelchair
bowlers association. Barb and Vern helped raise two of his grandchildren,
Arik and Ariel.
Vern enjoyed both collecting and selling antiques. He became heavily
involved in a local antique shop in Arizona and had many booths within the
shop. He enjoyed going to auctions, storage unit auctions and thrift
stores to find his next treasure. He smiled whenever he could turn a
profit!
Vern enjoyed the Packers and had a friendly rivalry with his wife and
son-in-law Jamie since they were Vikings fans.
Vern's health started to decline in 2005, however through it all he kept is
witty sense of humor, always making us laugh. He joked with us, the
doctors, the nurses and many others.
After Vern became sick, Barb got him his new best friend, a dog named
Shelby! Shelby made him smile even through the toughest times!
In 2010 Vern, Barb and Arik moved back to Minnesota to be closer to the
rest of the family.
Vern spent most of the last year in the hospital or nursing homes and on
October 4th passed away with Barb and his two daughters Jennifer and
Larissa at his bedside.
