Roy A. Borgeson was born on April 14, 1929 in the south side of Chicago. His family Eric, Ellen and Mary moved to St. Paul some years later. At Seventeen he quit high school and joined the Army. He finished high school while in the Army. After being honorable discharged he sighed up for the Reserves, a serious mistake. Soon after the Korean War broke out Roy was called up to serve his country. These were difficult years for Roy as were for many other young men. After returning home he relived war experiences for several years. In 1952 he married and seven years later was blessed with a beautiful baby girl and then four years later with a handsome son now deceased. He went to the University of Minnesota and earned a degree in Mortuary Science. He worked at several mortuaries but decided to try something else. He sold pharmaceuticals for about six years and then sold Farmers Insurance buying his own agency working long hours and doing well. After retiring he and his wife were able to enjoy trips to Europe. He especially enjoyed trips to Sweden visiting cousin and seeing his dad and moms former homes. The last years of life were hard but he never complained. The funeral service will be held at Miller Funeral Home in Fridley on May 21 at 11 AM with a visitation starting at 10:30 AM. Lunch will be served there. He will be buried at Morningside Memorial Gardens with Army Memorial Honors in Coon Rapids.
