Roland (Rollie) Roger Enkhaus
Born 8/16/36 - Died 10/19/23
Rollie was born August 16, 1936 in Wadena, Minnesota. After graduating from high school in Staples, Minnesota he attended North Dakota State University and earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a way to pay for his college education he was a Teaching Assistant, among many other odd jobs. His first professional job was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa followed by a return to Minnesota and a job with Univac. He worked there for thirty years and retired in 1993. During this time he married his high school sweetheart Betty Dvorak. Rollie and Betty had two children: a daughter, Brenda and a son, Gregory. Rollie was always willing to help both children with projects ranging from Brenda's science projects to building a “race” car for Indian Scouts with Greg. Rollie was an avid outdoorsman as exemplified by his keen interest in hunting and the many fishing trips with “the boys”. He was especially happy during the many fly-in fishing trips to Canada with dear friends. Sometimes the camp settings were idyllic - and sometimes not so much, but he loved them all. He captained the fishing boat and was delighted to catch a "bragging rights" fish. Rollie had a talent for design and detail, he used those talents to design their north woods cabin down to the last nail which he and Betty built together. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Verena Enkhaus and brother, Gerald Enkhaus and sister-in-law, Helen. Rollie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty; Brenda Enkhaus (Walter Pilat); Gregory (Valerie) and their sons Hunter and Logan; and nephew Bruce Enkhaus (Judy). Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Friday, November 10 at 10:30 at St. Philips Lutheran Church, 6180 Highway 65 NE, Fridley, MN 55432. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited.
