Robert Lewis Smitten passed away on October 18, 2021.
He was born in Sartell, MN on July 24, 1932 and was best known by “Bob” to all his friends and family.
Bob earned his degree at St. Cloud State University and the University of MN. He served in the Navy in California. Bob married the love of his life, Sharon (Ottinger) Smitten. They lived briefly in Inglewood CA, but soon moved back to MN to be closer to family, residing in Fridley, North Oaks, New Brighton and Minnetonka.
He scored a perfect score on his uniform CPA test which was followed by a lengthy career working at Touche Ross, Lamaur Corporations and Aerations Industries. He started his own company Karlyn Industries. Once he retired, they moved to their beautiful log home on Lake Wabedo, Longville, MN. In later years they moved to Johanna Shores Senior Living, Arden Hills.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mabel Smitten, brothers Lloyd and Darrel Hurd
He is survived by his wife Sharon of 65 years, Children Linda (Randy) Stroming, Kari (Chris) Peters, Bill (Kristina) Smitten, and Andy (Roxy) Smitten, Grandchildren (and their spouses) Natalie, Libby, Dan, Caroline, Sally, Lauren, Max, Elizabeth and Addie, 9 great grandchildren plus nieces and nephews.
Bob loved the Lake, spending time fishing, hunting and entertaining friends and family. He was well known for his smoked ribs, fish fries, coconut cookies, special popcorn nights and continually searching for new recipes.
Bob loved the Lord and was active in his churches Messiah Lutheran Moundsview and Salem Lutheran Longville. He desired that those around around him would come to know his Saviour Jesus Christ.
He loved his family, friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View at 11:00 AM with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Messiah Lutheran Church.
