Robert "Bob" Anderson, age 83, of Fridley, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. He is survived by son, Ritchie; son, Randy (Judy); daughter, Jackie (Aaron): sister, Juanita; 6 wonderful grandchildren, Michele, Jordan, Jake, Brandon, Kerry and Brianna, and 2 great grandchildren Kadrian and Courtland. Preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; daughter, Diane; parents, Mabel & Ted; sisters; Helen & Geneva; and brother, Sonnie.
Robert "Bob" Anderson was born July 25, 1933, the son to Ted and Mabel Anderson. He was the middle child of 5 children. Bob was born and raised on a farm in Brooten, MN., where he attended and graduated from high school. Shortly after graduation, Bob moved to Minneapolis, where he met and married Dorothy Gulbranson. Together, they raised four children. Diane, Ritchie, Randy and Jackie.
One of Bob's favorite pastimes was to go camping with his family. While the children were growing up, him and Dorothy would load up the children to go camping at Camden State Park (where Dorothy's siblings and their families met once a year) and Bemidji State Park (where he visited with his sister, Geneva's family once a year). Once the children grew older, Bob and Dorothy would go on camping excursions with their friends. He frequently referred to them as "The Gang"; however, others may remember them as "the Looney Campers".
There have been many stories told about their camping trips to Nickel Dickle Days in Waconia, Country Fest in Cadott, the Hole in the Wall and Wee Fest in Detroit Lakes. There were a few stories Bob and Dorothy tried to keep a secret from their children. However, pictures told the truth of how much fun and silly times they all had together.
Bob also enjoyed spending time bike riding, fishing, golfing, playing darts and bocce ball. He also loved watching football and racing. In his younger days, he also enjoyed water skiing.
Bob was known for his strength, smile and his sense of humor especially during tough times. He never gave up. He was cared about and loved by many. Eighty-three years have gone by, and now we say our goodbyes. You will be missed forever. We will always love you and we will always remember you in our hearts.
