Randy Schreifels (58) of Oak Grove, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2025. Randy was born on December 16, 1966 to Beatrice and LeRoy Schreifels in St. Cloud, MN. The youngest of four boys, he knew how to hold his own but also had a soft spot that he revealed when others needed it most. Randy graduated from Fridley High School in 1985 and SCSU in 1992. He worked in IT, most recently as a Senior Customer Success Manager/Business Critical Account Manager at Cohesity.
In 2009, Randy received the gift of life in the form of a kidney from his honorary sister, Tiffany Weber. From that moment forward, he lived life to its fullest, never taking it for granted. Randy and Tiffany shared a special bond, and Randy loved his "bonus" family as his own.
Randy married the love of his life, Arlene, in 2011 and together they created many wonderful memories. From traveling to simply sitting on the couch, the two were happiest when together. Family and friends liked to joke that the couple's roles were reversed as Randy would spend hours in the kitchen trying new recipes while Arlene would be watching football. Randy was an incredible baker and cook, and he enjoyed sharing the results of his talent with those around him. In recent years, Randy built an outdoor patio complete with a brick pizza oven which provided the perfect opportunity for him to cook and spend time with those lucky enough to call him friend.
In addition to spending time in his backyard, Randy loved everything outdoors and had many hobbies that took him there. Whether fishing, boating, or hunting with one of his faithful black labs over the years (Cody, Reuben, Otter, and Woodruff) - any time Randy was outside, he was happy. Randy especially enjoyed being outdoors with those he loved. Brothers' weekends were often spent snowmobiling or ice fishing, and Randy looked forward to an annual fishing and hunting trip with friends every fall. He also introduced his nephews to hunting, taking the time to teach them proper hunting techniques and a love of the sport. Those times together were truly special, and whenever Randy's friends or family are in the woods, they can be certain he'll be there with them.
Randy will be deeply missed by his wife Arlene, father LeRoy, brothers Bryan (Dawn), Bruce (Julie), Tim (DeAnn), nieces and nephews Justine, Karl, Alex and Erin. He was preceded in death by his mom, Bea, and parents-in-law Doctors Alex and Nerissa (Nery) Avestruz.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 10th at Miller Funeral Home - 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, MN. Visitation begins at 10am, with a service at 11am and lunch to follow.
Randy wanted to return the gift of life and did so through bone, tissue, and cornea donations. We find comfort knowing part of him lives on and encourage others to consider organ donation.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to National Kidney Foundation or LifeSource in memory of Randy Schreifels are appreciated.
