Paul S Fletcher

Paul S. Fletcher, 61, of Minneapolis, MN took his final earthly breath on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN. He immediately met his Lord & Savior face-to-face as he was joyfully welcomed into his eternal heavenly home, where he received his medal of valor for his unwavering trust in & love for Jesus as he bravely battled Stage IV Oral Cancer.

Paul, son of Ronald & Lillian (Maus) Fletcher, was born November 10th, 1962 at Bethesda Lutheran Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He lived his entire life in Minnesota, residing in St. Paul, Roseville, Crystal, Hopkins, & Minneapolis. He graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School and received his B.A. degree in History & Social Science from St. Paul Bible College (Crown College) in St. Bonifacius, MN. He proudly worked hard at a variety of jobs, including Assistant Store Manager at KayBee Toy & Hobby, Claim Research Analyst at Aetna Pharmacy Management, & Operations Associate at Allianz Life.

Paul faithfully attended worship services at Rosehill Alliance, Church of the Open Door, & Emmanuel Christian Center, where he loved serving others through ministries & activities such as Worship Team, Choir, Youth Group, Singles’ Groups, Retreats, & Volleyball. As a boy, he went to summer camps at Big Sandy Camp near McGregor, MN, & as an adult, he truly looked forward to & enjoyed attending numerous men’s retreats held there every year. The camp was very near & dear to his heart especially because as a teenager it was the place he became a Christian, receiving salvation, & where he committed his life to serving his Lord & Savior.

Paul met the love of his life, Renee Peterson, at Church of the Open Door & they were united in marriage on May 7, 1994 at Rosehill Alliance in Roseville, MN. Although they were never blessed with children of their own, both Paul & Renee deeply loved & adored their numerous nephews & nieces, & tried to spend as much time with them as possible.

Paul was a uniquely gifted photographer who was rarely seen anywhere without his camera. He especially enjoyed photographing events, weddings, people, animals, & nature. He loved telling stories through the photos he took & delighted in creating meaningful & memorable slideshows for others with his photos & powerful music. Paul also loved spending time outdoors in nature & dreamed of the day he could own an RV & travel throughout the country, camping along the way.

Paul had a special love & tenderness for their two kitties, Roscoe & Mandi, who loved to lay on his chest & helped him heal from his first heart attack.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Renee, his wife of 29 years; 4 brothers, Mark (Cheryl), Tom (Lisa), Steve (Terri), & David (Lauren); 1 sister, Sue Carpentier (Jeff); numerous nephews & nieces; Renee’s sister & brother-in-law, Angela & Terry Dykstra; & other extended family & relatives, as well as many dear friends.

Renee would like to especially thank the following:

- the ICU doctors & nurses who were incredibly caring & compassionate to both Paul & Renee during his final hours;

- friends & family who selflessly & sacrificially stepped in to help, sometimes with only a moment’s notice, in whatever ways we needed;

- those who encouraged & helped strengthen Paul & Renee through cards, letters, scripture verses, phone calls, texts, & more;

- & those who prayed continuously & tirelessly for us throughout this entire journey.

A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in the Life Center (Door #4) at Emmanuel Christian Center, 7777 University Ave. N., Spring Lake Park, MN 55432. Visitation with the family present one hour prior & a dessert reception immediately following the service. A private burial will take place at a future date.
