Nicholas Bernardini of New Brighton
May 27, 1987 ~ December 5, 2020
Nicholas Steven Bernardini, Ironman Nick, went home on December 5, 2020 at the amazing age of 33.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Nick, witnessed pure joy, love, charm, mischievousness, trust and strength.
A Fierce Warrior, a “Silent Warrior”, who battled with tenacity unparalleled. Nick, exemplified courage, vibrancy and personality. His SMILE was legendary.
Nick was born in Escondido, California and moved to New Brighton, Minnesota at the tender age of 6 with his parents and younger brother. He is survived by parents, Steve and Bernadette Bernardini, brother, Adam (Teagan) of Isanti, Minnesota; multitude of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Nick lived life to the fullest! His SMILE opened hearts, stole hearts and turned hearts. He personified gladness and kindness. Nick’s personality was huge and spoke volumes.
Always in the mood for costumes, jokes, ridiculous, outrageous gags and pranks, CatDog (whom we have “beatified” and is now known as Saint CatDog!), novel and inappropriate noise-making toys brought shoulder laughs and chaos which reigned supreme in Nick’s rich life.
Schooled first at home in Escondido, California by Project HOPE, then the Nicolaysen Center followed by Chapparal Elementary in Poway, California. Nicholas continued his education in Minnesota at Pike Lake Elementary, Highview Middle School in New Brighton, NE Metro 916 in Maplewood, White Bear Lake High School and Metro 916 in Little Canada.
The last 12 years of his abundant life, Nick attended Midwest Special Services, Inc., (MSS) in Shoreview where he joyfully trailblazed new adventures, activities, outings, theater, concerts and social events with numerous friends. MSS gave Nick friends,
freedom, a daily purpose and promise, energy, excitement, endurance…everything!
A man of monikers…Ironman Nick, Nicholas, Nick, Wild Thing, Nickman, Nickster, Nickerbockers and Mr.Nick. You are loved, loved, loved. Godspeed.
