Nathan Cottew

January 1, 1993 — October 4, 2014

Nathan A. Cottew, age 21 of Coon Rapids, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on October 4th, 2014.
Nathan was the first baby born at Mercy Hospital on January 1st, 1993. Shortly after his first birthday, Nathan was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that never once held him back throughout his life. He was active in adapted sports and outdoor activities where he met many great friends and always had a positive attitude. Even at a young age, while going through treatments, he thought if he could help one person that shared his condition, everything he was going through was worth it.
Nathan enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, laughing and sitting out in the sun. His best friend was his sister, Nicole and he loved his family very much. Nathan never let life slow him down, and was currently in his senior year at Anoka Ramsey Community College, working towards a degree in computer aided drafting.
He touched many lives throughout his short time here on earth and will be deeply missed.
Nathan is survived by his parents, Dan and Andrea Cottew; sister, Nicole; grandparents, Robert and Mary Lou Mobley and James and Dorlene Cottew; several aunts and uncles; cousins; and other loving relatives and friends.
