Milo Hoiland, age 88 passed away on November 18 after a long and fruitful life. Milo was raised by his widowed mother near Fergus Falls. He met his wife, Esther, in 1949 on the steps of a Lutheran chapel. Milo and Esther were married for 54 good years and raised two sons, David and Mark, who both live in the Twin Cities with their families. Esther taught in the public schools. Milo worked in engineering at Honeywell for 20 years. Later, he worked in medical equipment sales and service.
Milo was in robust health well into his 80s and spent his retirement being of service to God and His Kingdom on earth. Milo served as a medical missionary, repairing hospital equipment in Madagascar, Ghana, Cameroon, Honduras, and in Indonesia after the devastating tsunami of 2004. In between his mission trips and in his later years Milo was a faithful volunteer at Global Health Ministries, and other faith based medical equipment groups. Most of the locations where Milo served were affiliated with the Lutheran Church. Milo's most active years of service occurred when he was between the ages of 70 and 82.
Milo had a cheerful heart and an optimistic soul. He touched the lives of many people. A celebration of Milo's life and memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, at 11 am. Doors open at 10am at Calvary Lutheran Church at 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley.
Many thanks to the caring staff at Chandler Place and Pearl Garden memory care who were so kind to Milo for the past 2 years.
Memorials preferred to Global Health Ministries.
