Mildred Ruth (Kowalke) Dorner was born and raised on farms in South Dakota. She went on a trip to St. Paul with her family in July, 1936. There she met Frank and stayed. They were married on Nov. 14, 1936. They were blessed with three children, Robert Mary Ann and Frances. They lived on a small farm near Hugo, MN. They had a lake home in Pine City, MN. There Frank's illness made it necessary to move back to the cities.. They made their home in New Brighton in 1977. At one time she was a clerk at Desnick Drug store in St. Paul and at F.W. Woolworth. She later worked at the St. Paul Pioneer Press in the control room. She retired from there and moved to their lake home. While living in New Brighton, she worked as a volunteer at Sr. Congregate dining, New Brighton Eagles and Messiah Lutheran church. The last few months of Frank's life she put her volunteer work on hold. Frank passed away on Sept. 13th, 1990. She went back to being active again. She has been blessed with 26 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren as well as brothers, Otto and Bernard and sisters, Ruby and Emma.
