Michelle Sweeney

Michelle Orr - Sweeney of Coon Rapids, MN, died unexpectedly on January 22, 2018 at the age of 56. She was an avid Bingo player, a loving wife, mother, and friend.

Michelle was born December 2, 1961 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis to Raymond and Geraldine Orr. She grew up in Shoreview MN with her brothers’ Rory, Scott, and Shawn, and graduated from Mounds View High School in 1980.

Michelle met the love of her life, her husband of 30 years, Jon Sweeney, at her cousin Tami’s wedding in 1985. Jon and Michelle were married October 3, 1987 at St. John’s The Baptist in New Brighton. Soon after, they had their first child, Katie, in January. That same year in December they welcomed their son, Tyler. Four years later, they welcomed their third child, Laura. Her kids were her life and she enjoyed watching them in their many activities such as soccer, dance, and basketball growing up.

She was very involved in activities at Ramsey Elementary School and established their yearly school picnic. Her volunteer work influenced others to be kind and give back to the community with a smile on their face. Michelle often visited Costco and Target where she became friends with the staff. She loved entertaining and making people happy. You could always find Michelle with a smile on her face on Tuesday and Friday nights at Boulevard and Wednesday and Saturday nights at Broadway Pizza in Coon Rapids playing Bingo. Her mission in life was to bring joy and make sure you were Smile(ing) 2.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Jon; her children, Katie Mau (Dan), Tyler, and Laura Sweeney; her brothers, Rory (Lawana), Scott (Pat), and Shawn (Dana) Orr; her nieces, Amy (Curtis), Jessica Licciardi (John), Sara (Jesse), and Alice Muelken (Derek), Brianna Beach, and Alyssa Sweeney; her nephews Ryan (Simone) and Jacob Sweeney; her great nieces Madelyn, Emalyn Licciardi, Olivia Beach; her great nephews Wyatt Cady and John Licciardi IV.
