Michael Gustafson

Michael James Gustafson 73 went home to be with Jesus July 30, 2011. A devoted family man, Mike is survived by his wife Dorothy and their three children, Scott, Carla and Kurt; and four grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Jake and Dylan.
Mike was born September 29, 1937 to parents Carl and Lilly Gustafson. He is preceded in Death by his brother Carl Jr, sister Carol, and is survived by his twin sister Patricia. He grew up in North East Minneapolis. He graduated from Edison High School where he played on the school's tennis team. A long time employee at the United States Post Office, he retired in 1999.
Mike and wife Dorothy were married November 21, 1965. They got to work right away building a cabin on Knife Lake. They loved everything about the cabin and enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting, gardening and boating as his family grew. Mike knew all the best spots for finding fish on Knife Lake. Mike and Dorothy would catch so many fish each year they would have to give some away. When their children were old enough Mike helped them learn to fish, hunt and build.
Mike lived with his family in Fridley, MN. He was always proud of his children. He was happy to see Scott following in his footsteps to become an avid hunter. Carla still frequents his favorite fishing spots on Knife Lake. Kurt was inspired by his Dad's devotion to academics and graduated Suma Cum Laude from college. Mike loved his grandchildren very much. He would light up whenever he saw them. Mike was a loving Father, Husband, Grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed.
