Meela Grace, age 14 of New Hope, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 20, 2024. Survived by her parents, Talia Castano and Anousone Keobounpheng; step-father Daniel Cotterell; sister Eloise; and many loving relatives and friends.
Meela was a light in the life of all those that she met. Her laugh was infectious and her smile could change the course of your day.
Robbinsdale Area School district was home to Meela for the duration of her schooling and despite her inability to speak freely she was never short of friends. Ava, Liam, Maggie, and Lance were by her side making sure she always had what she needed and wanted. The staff was amazing and Meela knew that her teachers would always be there for her.
Her day to day life was filled with love, travel, food, and plenty of tablet time. Her joys in life were simple and sweet, enjoying the sunshine and being with those she loved. She wouldn’t shy away from a trip to Nordstrom’s either.
Despite her battle with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, Meela found an unimaginable strength each day to live life to the fullest. And we are grateful to have been given an opportunity to love her throughout those days and help guide her into the next adventure.
A Celebration of Life is to be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 12PM at Miller Funeral Home (6210 Hwy 65, Fridley, MN 55432) with visitation starting one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be sent to the Minnesota Epilepsy Foundation. (efmn.org.)
