Matthew Eggert, born September 18, 1980, passed away on September 17, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Matt graduated from Spring Lake Park high school in 1999, he then continued on to the University of Minnesota where he achieved his bachelor's degrees in chemical engineering and materials science. After brief time working at Boston Scientific and 3M, he went on to earn his master's degree in education from Hamline university. His passion was to educate the young minds of his community.
Matt was known for his love of the outdoors, his generous spirit, and his genuine friendship and kindness. Game nights were a highlight for friends and family. Matt was a huge Gopher's football fan, and he would always show up if there was a game. Gopher's volleyball was another interest, and he loved to play the sport as well.
Starting in college he would spend his Sunday afternoons reading, playing and volunteering at the Minnesota Children's Hospital.
Matt loved his dog, Java, and they would travel the United States camping, hiking and finding adventure.
Matthew is preceded by his grandparents, Henry and Dorothy Eggert.
He is survived by his father, John, mother Karen, and brother Jeff (Elizabeth), his five beloved nephews, Peter, Luke, Charlie, Grant, and Zack, his grandparents, Betty and Jerry Carlson. Matt is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 24th from 1 to 4 pm, with a short program beginning at 1:30 pm. Banquets of Minnesota, 6310 Highway 65 NE, Fridley, MN 55432. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the Matthew D. Eggert Scholarship Charitable Trust, PO Box 120211, Saint Paul, MN 55112.
