Mary Caesar

Caesar (nee Hammes), Mary Kaye age 69 of East Bethel, formerly of Mpls.

Born in Princeton, MN on May 11, 1950 Mary Kaye began her journey through life. Mary Kaye was the oldest of 7 children by Frank Hammes and Lillian (Hammes) Steenerson. She was called home on June 25, 2019.

Mary was a strong, hardworking and independent woman. As a young woman, she moved to Minneapolis, started her career and raised four children. She met Bufford Hunter Sr. and had four children; twins, Kyle and Kris (1973), Karlie (1975), and Katie (1978).

Mary had a love for life. She enjoyed animals, flowers and her community. Among her favorite pets were her horse, Gayla Star and her Dog, Sunny. She was a passionate gardener and occasionally offered flowers to the neighborhood kids. During her 40 years in north Minneapolis, she was an active member of the Jordan Area Community Council, the Hillside Block Club, and volunteered with the Minneapolis Park Police.

Mary Kaye retired from the State of Minnesota in 2015 after nearly 30 years in the health care field. In addition to working at The Minnesota Veterans Home (Minneapolis), 24-hour transitional housing facilities and most recently a day program, she also provided 1:1 care for special needs clients.

Preceded in death by her parents, and sister; Kathy. Mary Kaye is remembered by sons; Kyle and Kristopher(Kris), Daughters; Karlie and Katherine(Katie), Brothers; Dennis, William(Bill), Terrance(Terry) and Brian, and Sister; Judy. Grandchildren; Kaylin, Dominic, Darnell, Kalissa, Denzel, Vivian, Mikah, Ethan and Olivia and great grandchild; Kyrie as well as many other family members and friends.

Visitation 5-8 PM Monday with 7:30 vigil prayers at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley 763-571-1300. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 11 AM with visitation one hour prior at the Church of St. Timothy, 707 - 89th Ave NE, Blaine. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.
