Age 86 of Mounds View. Passed away Jan. 14 surrounded by the love of his family. Lloyd Dawson was born on December 28th, 1925 on a small farm outside of Parkers Prairie Minnesota. He was raised on the farm along with four brothers and one sister. He graduated from high school and then met and fell in love with Gladys Hink. They were united in marriage January 5th, 1947. They moved to Minneapolis where Dad attended school to become a barber. He opened his own barber shop in Northeast Minneapolis and called it "Lloyd's Clip Shop". He barbered there for over 35 years. He along with his wife Gladys built their home in Fridley Minnesota and that is where they raised their five children, three sons and two daughters. After Dad retired he continued to cut hair for people down at the Salvation Army and also cut hair for elderly men that were homebound. After the Salvation Army Dad took a part-time job with the Minneapolis Auction where he drove cars back and forth between different dealerships in the cities.
Lloyd Dawson lived a simple life. He did not need things, he just enjoyed being around his family and others. He was a Christian man and his love for the Lord showed in everything he did. He loved to talk and was a great story teller. Next to God, he loved his wife more than anything else in the world. They were best friends and had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Dad was a very loving and loyal husband & father and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his family.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his Father, Fred Dawson & Mother, Ethel Dawson along with his four brothers, Don, Lyle, Harold, & Dudley and special sister Edna.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gladys, his three sons, Greg, Dave, & Tom and his two daughters Sandy & Judy. He also leaves behind 8 loving grandchildren who were the light of his life: Dana, Denise, Dan, Nicole, Lori, Kelly, Jenna, and Jesse. Also surviving him are his 7 great-grandchildren whom he adored: Joey, Brandon, Kira, Ezra, Caleb, Sophia, Zayden Lloyd, and another one on the way this year.
You will live on in our hearts forever Dad............see you in Heaven!
