Linda Mae Kam (nee Erdman), 58, of Blaine, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on September 17, 2017 at her home with her family by her side.
Linda was born in Eau Claire, WI, on August 12, 1959, the seventh child of Maylin and Diane Erdman. Linda grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire North High School in 1977. She later met the love of her life, Mark Kam, when both the Erdman family and the Kam family were vacationing in the same area in Northern Wisconsin. They later married on September 15, 1979 and began to make their home and life together in Blaine, MN.
As recently as August 12, 2017, Linda’s family and extended family gathered to celebrate her birthday at her brother Jim Erdman’s home in Eau Claire, WI, with a Hawaiian theme. Linda was the life force of the party, encouraging everyone to dress the part and enjoy the time together- which was very typical of the Linda that all the family loved.
For over thirty-five years, Linda worked for Plastics Inc., as a Quality Technician and retired two years ago. She also created a little business for a short time, in which she entertained at children’s parties as the famous “Mrs. Pickles” or “Sunflower”.
Linda’s greatest focus, however, was on her family. Linda and Mark raised two children Zachary and Samantha and were actively involved in their children’s lives. Linda served as a Den mother to her son’s Cub Scout Pack. Linda was extremely proud of her daughter when she graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2011. In 2008, she was blessed with a precious grandson Thomas Kam, with whom she had a special bond. One of her greatest joys was being a Grandmother.
Linda, indeed, had a joy for life. As an active mother and grandmother, she was creative, loved to shop, loved to cook and would share what she had made with friends, family, all of her children’s friends and her neighbors. She delighted in making acquaintances with people no matter where she went and thus, she acquired countless friends. Linda essentially was generous, thoughtful and had a huge heart for people, which was exemplified in many ways including being a caregiver at times for her elderly Mother-in-law and her willingness to help out friends or family whenever she could.
Linda was a team player whom you could count on in a crisis; and in good times, you could count on her to make any event fun. She was the heart of most Erdman-Kam family gatherings which will be forever changed minus the fun that she brought with bags of gifts, enormous amounts of food, great card games that lasted into the wee hours with uproarious laughter. Her generous nature to want to feed everyone with her latest discoveries and recipes will be dearly and greatly missed by her entire extended family.
Linda is survived by her husband Mark, son Zachary Kam, daughter Samantha Kam (Molly), beloved grandson, Thomas Kam; brothers James Erdman (Laurel), Daniel Erdman (Nancy), LaVerne Erdman; sisters Jean Johnson, and Denise Robertson; sister-in-law Rosemary Kam; and 14 nieces and nephews and twelve great-nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Judith Anderson and Deborah Erdman and her in-laws, Celest and Josephine Kam, several aunts and uncles and her grandparents.
