Lila Janette Warner (Bottolfson) 102, earned her angel wings and flew into God's tender embrace Monday, February 26, 2018.
Raised on a dairy farm in Amery, WI Lila moved with her young family to Minneapolis, MN after her husband Roy returned from WWII, later settling in Fridley, MN. A longtime parishioner at Grace Evangelical Church, Lila’s bible was always within arms reach with unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lila possessed a quick wit, a charming smile and a lively sense of humor. Over the years her family grew up on authentic Norwegian cuisine, such as Potato Dumplings, Krumkakes, Rosettes, Lutefisk and her oft-imitated, never duplicated recipe for Lefse. The last of the family to speak fluent Norwegian, Lila often hosted friends and family around the holidays, all of whom enjoyed her homestyle dishes and Old World wisdom/advice, all of which were offered in generous portions. Those blessed to have known her will miss her unique quips, strong coffee, unlimited supply of baked goods and liberal use of Lestoil, but most of all her warm and generous heart, with love that was always unconditional sealed with a strong Norwegian hug, will remain as the largest part of her everlasting legacy.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years Roy, son Steven, parents Leonard and Ida Bottolfson, siblings Lawrence Bottolfson and Evelyn Erickson. Survived by her loving son Michael. Grandchildren Sean, Christopher, Tara, Robert, Shannon Powell, Sarah Rodenwald and Courtney Nelson. 12 great-grandchildren Tristan, Luke, Jacob; Samuel, Ellie, Abbie, Lillie (Powell); Danielle, Andrea, Brandon (Rodenwald); Sophie and Isabella (Nelson); daughter-in-law Nancy Warner as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation begins at 10 AM with funeral service at 11 AM Monday, March 5 Miller Funeral Home 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, MN. A light lunch will be served followed by internment at East Immanuel Cemetery, Amery, WI.
“I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
I’d stay in the garden with Him,
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.”
