Orton, Lester G., age 82 of Blaine, passed away Oct. 31, 2015. Preceded in death by parents, Josie and Bud; sister, Francie; brother, David; and granddaughter, Jennifer. Lester was a Korean War veteran, a life member of the Fridley VFW Post 363, and State Adjutant Quartermaster of the VFW for 13 years. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by the National Commander in Chief of the VFW for unselfish service for the veterans of Minnesota, and Aug 21, 1998 was proclaimed Les Orton day by Minnesota Governor Arnie Carlson. He was also a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church for 52 years. Lester is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; children, Melissa (David), Shelly (Cary), Beci (Blue), Beth (Ted) and Michael (Jen); grandchildren, Brittany, Brandy, Patrick, Natalie, Nick, Marques, Emily, Olivia and Jacob; great grandchildren, Kaynin, Amara and Melissa; brothers, Paul (Audrey) and Duane (Janet); sister, Mary Jo (Dick); nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends. Mass of Christian burial on Thurs, Nov 5 at 10AM at the Church of St Timothy, 707 89th Ave NE, Blaine. Visitation Wed, Nov 4 from 5-8PM with vigil prayers and VFW service at 7PM, at Miller Funeral Home 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, as well as one hour prior to the mass at church. Interment Morningside Memorial Gardens.
