Leona Dayon

Born December 7th 1930 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Martha and Frank Roth and passed away peacefully on June 16th, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Martha and Frank, brothers Allister, Jerome and Quentin and sisters Ardelle and Maxine. Leona is survived by her loving husband Roy, daughters Lynn Ritchie (Dennis), Denise Dayon, Renee Dayon and sons Greg Dayon and Christopher Dayon (Tania). Grandchildren Tracy, Adam, Linnea, Jessica, Jenna, Lisa, Kara and Laurie as well as twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Leona moved to Minneapolis in 1948 where she met her husband, Roy, the love of her life. They married March 5, 1949. Leona's life revolved around her family. Time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews were the highlights of her life. She loved to sing and play the ukulele and there was nothing she enjoyed more than singing with her brothers and sisters. She also loved her garden and for years grew raspberries that were the best you could find anywhere. She was a living encyclopedia and you could call her anytime day or night with a question about anything and she would always know the answer.

After raising her family, Leona worked for the Minneapolis Public School System for 24 years, at which time she decided to retire. Roy and Leona then begin to travel the United States, often by train. They visited many places that they both enjoyed but Leona had a favorite trip……New Orleans!!

The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Senior Living in Blaine as well as Aaron and Ross from Allina Hospice for their kindness and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimers Association at alz.org.

Funeral service will be held on Friday June 23rd at Miller Funeral Home 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley MN at 1PM with visitation at 12PM.
