He graduated from Upsala High School in 1953. After high school, he drove milk truck for Elmdale Creamery and in 1958 he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. His family grew even more as they were joined by Joan's son Doug and daughter Deanna. His favorite past time was fishing whether it be summer or winter fishing, and you always fished until your limit was caught. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting and deer hunting. Laurie was never a big talker, and it wasn't often that he would say "I Love you", but you always knew he loved you and he would do anything he could to help you. He was also known as the go to person the have something repaired and was handy with just about anything. There was always time for family, friends and lots of jokes.
