Larry Virden

Lawrence (Larry ) Virden, age 65, of NE Minneapolis/Fridley, died after a short battle with lung cancer on Jan 17th, surrounded by his family.
Larry will be dearly missed his wife, Marilyn (Lusian) Virden, his daughters and their husbands Laura and Robb Neuenschwander and Lisa and Martin Coleman; six grandchildren, Cameron, Charlie, Maya, Alex, Lauren and Hayden; brothers Don, Phillip (Jeanne), Leon (Mary) and sisters Mary Ellen (Randy), Luanne (Tom), and Kathy (Mike); sister-in-law Shirley, many nieces and nephews and dear friends . He is preceded in death by his mother and father Alice and Joe Virden and his brother Michael. Larry was a graduate of DeLaSalle High School and also attended the University of Minnesota. After High School he proudly served in the Army as a Preventive Medicine Specialist in Graffenwoehr, Germany. Larry was a supervisor at the Minneapolis Post Office for over 35 years, retiring to pursue his passions for golf, fishing, bowling, and reading. Larry was well known on the Northeast side, an avid trivia player and always ready to share a beer and a story. He was known to have a love/hate relationship with the Minnesota sports teams. Larry had a smooth voice, a warm heart and he treasured his family and friends. His spirit will be missed on the golf course, local establishments in NE Minneapolis, and in the hearts and minds of his family. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, January 22, at the Miller Funeral Home in Fridley at 1:30PM with a visitation 1 hour prior. Following the service the family will be hosting a happy hour tribute at The Moose on Monroe. 356 Monroe, Minneapolis.
