Kermit Hout, of Mounds View, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on August 22, 1933, in Pollock, South Dakota, where he spent his early years and attended school. Kermit met Darlyne Katherine Perman when she was a junior in high school. When Darlyne took her first ride in his car Kermit predicted he would marry her, and that prediction came true. They were married for over 60 years and lived in New Brighton, MN for those years. In 1953 he joined the army and served most of his time in Germany. On August 26, 1956 he married Darlyne and they moved to Springfield, SD where he went to school. Darlyne worked in the registrar's office for a period of time while Kermit finished school with majors in math and education.
They then moved to Oakes, ND where he taught in high school for 6 years. After receiving a teaching assistance-ship they moved to Grand Forks, ND. There he taught advanced electronics while he received his masters in education. They then moved to the cities where he had a job at Sperry Univac. He had a job in manufacture engineering as a production engineer. He worked there for 22 years. They built a home in New Brighton, MN, and lived there for 48 years. They then moved to Mounds View, MN. After their retirement they travelled a lot, spending winters in Arizona and Padre Island, Texas. They loved to gold, fish, walk, and keep each other company.
Kermit was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlyne Katherine Perman Hout. He is survived by his sons Dean (Sandra) Hout and Keith (Meggan) Hout; grandchildren Jason, Mike (Michelle), Jacob (Crystal), Andrew, and Whitney Hout; and great-grandchildren Bryce, Logan, Cayden, Holden, Keith, Austin, Easton, Elliana, and Nathan.
Kermit’s life was marked by love for his family and a dedication to education and hard work. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. Committal Service will be held 1045am Friday, January 17th at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave. S, Minneapolis. Family and friends are required to gather in assembly area FOUR 15 minutes before. No flowers please. Memorials preferred to family.
