Kermit E. Hollen, age 88, of Fridley, MN passed away on Wednesday May 10th, 2023.
Kermit was born December 20th, 1934 on the family farm near Sunburg, MN the son of Reuben and Laura (Gunderson) Hollen. Kermit was raised on the farm along with his eight siblings where he attended Country School and then Kerkhoven High School, graduating in the class of 1952. Kermit then enlisted in the United States Army, completing basic training in Colorado Springs, and then served in the Korean War until his honorable discharge.
After his time in the service Kermit worked several different jobs while attending Minneapolis Business College completing a degree in accounting. He was united in marriage to Fran Donner of Belgrade, MN and they made their home in Fridley where they raised their three children and are long time members of St. Philips Lutheran Church. He worked several years as an accountant at Hennepin County and later as a taxes Enrolled Agent until retirement.
Throughout his life Kermit enjoyed many outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, walking, and spending time at their lake cabin with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Next to Fran, they were the lights of his life.
Kermit is survived by Fran, his wife of 63 years; daughter Wendi Hollen and son Mark (Nancy) Hollen; daughter-in-law Karen Hollen; grandchildren, Maria (Brandon), Krystyna (Justin), Erica (Matt), Kyle, Paige, Brooke, Hannah, Naomi, Anders; great grandchildren, Sheldon, Miley, Colton, Joe, Archer, Lainey; and siblings Gordon Hollen, Ethel (Gene) Melgren, sister-in-law Mary Hollen, brother-in-law Richard Larson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Michael Hollen; and siblings, Rosella Camp, Arlene Skindelien, Harold Hollen, Morine Hollen, Lowell Hollen, and Audrey Larson.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 10:30AM with visitation one hour prior at St Philips Lutheran Church in Fridley. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
