Kathryn Kay (Keppel) Petersen, age 82, passed away peacefully February 13, 2023. Kay grew up in Boscobel, Wisconsin, enjoying small town life close to family and friends. Kay and her husband made a wonderful life together. Kay spent 48 of her years living in Fridley, Minnesota. Kay made friends easily, always welcomed people gladly into her home, and continually took time to stop and visit with others. She loved her work with 4-H, both as a volunteer and as a program assistant. Her passions included gardening - both indoors and outdoors, with a special preference for violets. She also enjoyed many creative activities, especially wood carving, painting, and embroidery. She was always finding ways to help others, teaching Sunday School, volunteering with any activities her children were involved in, contributing to the leadership of fundraisers for her favorite organizations, and even taking in any rescue animals that needed a temporary home. Kay was an everyday part of her grandchildren and grand dogs' lives and always found her way to the floor to play, provide snacks for all, and snuggle. Kay is preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Olive Keppel. Survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ralph Petersen, siblings Mary (David) Christensen and Patti Lewis, children Kirstin (Don) Delp, Karl (Kendell) Petersen, Gretchen (Joe) Salzwedel, grandchildren Raymond, Ellen, Johanna, Emmalee, and Ariana.
