Strande, Karen Ann, age 71 of Mounds View, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. She was preceded in death by parents, Viola and Martin. Karen is survived by daughter, Sheila; son, Jason; granddaughters, Kassandra and Veronica; brothers Richard (Mary) and David; sisters Betty (Rollie) and Janice (David); many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Karen was born on December 18, 1943 in Frazee, MN to Martin and Viola (Rhode) Mackenthun. She grew up on their farm and graduated from Frazee High School in 1961. She married Paul Brandvold in 1962 and moved to Mounds View in 1970. Karen worked for Simer Pump Company and Systec Inc. She retired in 2008. She enjoyed baking, watching Animal Planet with family, gardening, painting, and caring for her beloved dog Riley. Karen always made time for family, was kind and generous, had a wonderful sense of humor and smile, a loving spirit, and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date, to take place in Becker County during Spring or Summer. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee, MN. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen's life. Please check back for further service details.
