Joyce Larson

Joyce M. (Anderson) Larson, age 83, of Golden Valley. Loving wife of 54 years. Devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lifelong dedication to church service and choir membership. Gifted artistic crafter. Enjoyed traveling and loved time spent with family and friends.

Joyce was born April 19, 1937.  She grew up in the Minneapolis area, attending Camden Covenant Church and later moved to St. Cloud and attended St. Cloud Covenant Church.  She attended the St. Cloud Teachers College and taught elementary school and later was a special education teacher in a preschool program for 25 years.

Howard Larson and Joyce were married in 1959.  Howard worked for Honeywell and his job relocated their family to several places in the United States and twice to Sweden.  They had three children: Annette, Philip and Peter.  Their family has grown to include seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Howard and their son, Philip, preceded Joyce in death.

She is survived by daughter, Annette (Jeff) Olson; son, Peter (Krista) Larson; daughter-in-law, Debbi; grandchildren: Peter (Amanda), Anna (Michael), Sara (Steven), Lora (John), Bjorn (Sarah), Anders, and Nels; great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Amelia, Wayne, Karl, Gunnar, and Connie Britt; brother, David (Joy) Anderson.

Joyce especially enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Attending their sports and music activities.  She also enjoyed reading, crafting and creating greeting cards.  She was a member of Salem Covenant Church where she volunteered with childcare for the MOPS program, the Archive Committee, Swedish Singers Choir and church choir. She also served at the Manna Market Food Pantry at Fridley Covenant church.

Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. Thurs. April 8th at Salem Covenant Church, 2655- 5th St. NW, New Brighton.

Private interment North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Memorials preferred to Covenant Pines Bible Camp or Salem Covenant Church.
