Joyce Mae Hagberg, A beautiful red-haired Norwegian German daughter of a North Dakota farmer, Joyce was born in Pettibone, N.D. on May 25, 1927. She resided in Pettibone until graduating from Pettibone High School in 1945. The next few years were spent in California. She returned to Fargo, N.D. and worked as a secretary and ticket agent for Northwest Airlines. In 1951, she married Calvin Hagberg and settled down to raise their three sons. The next years were filled with Cub Scouting, being a "Hockey Mom", and chauffeuring from one event to another. Once her sons were older, Joyce returned to outside work in the Fridley School system. Years of gratifying and enjoyable association with fellow employees followed. In 1989 she retired to pursue a life of domestic challenges, such as sewing, knitting and gardening; several years of traveling, and spending winters in Florida. Joyce leaves behind Calvin, her husband of 60 years; sons, Scott, Keith and Rick; grandson, Jakob; sister, Fern Simons; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Inga Rohde; brothers, Henry, Forrest, Glen, Lorenz; and sister, Beverly Kaczmarski. Joyce enjoyed life and the fellowship of family get-togethers, such as reunions, marriages and birthdays. Her humor and enthusiasm for life will be sorely missed by everyone she knew, especially her family.
