Joseph J. Hurd, Jr., “Joe,” passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side, as he made his journey to the afterlife to be met by those who have passed before him on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

Joe may have left us, his laughter, memories, kindhearted spirit, will always be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph J. Hurd, Sr. and Joyce F. Hurd (Knight); brother, John C. Hurd; nephew, Johnny D. Hurd; dog, Sophie.

Joe is survived by his wife of forty plus years, Karen; children, Charmaine and Christopher; sister, Joy A. Prisanhane (Sombandith); brother, Jeffrey L. Hurd; nephews, John F. Hurd (Rochelle) and Bandith S. Hurd (Stephanie; seven grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and wholeheartedly with all his being as grandpas do; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, including cousins and friends.

Joe was everything to everyone he encountered. He was willing to help however he could giving the shirt off of his back or his last dollar. That is the kind of person he was: a beautiful, selfless soul full of warmth and compassion, who always saw the funny side of things. He found humor in everything.

***My Charlie, every night I see you in my dreams, I feel you in my heart. It makes me cry. You will be dearly missed. Grab your fishing pole and Sophie, go sit by the lake, and fish to your heart’s content. I will take care of everything here, until we meet again in the afterlife. Love you always, your Lucy!!!***

Memorial Gathering 1:00-4:00 p.m. with Sharing at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd at Miller Funeral Home.

Final Resting Place: Vada, Georgia.
