Joseph George Gonsior

In loving memory of Joseph George Gonsior, who peacefully entered eternal rest on January 22nd, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on May 14th, 1932, in Browerville, Minnesota, to Leo and Gertrude Gonsior (Drajna). After graduating from Browerville High School, he proudly served in the United States Army from February 1953 to 1955. On December 27th, 1956, Joseph married Janice Biermaier in Browerville, Minnesota.

They started their life together in New Brighton where Joseph commenced his career at Ewald Bros Dairy. In September 1959, they established their home in Fridley where they resided for 60 years and raised their family. Joseph spent the last 5 years at the Bel Rae Senior Living Center in Mounds View. His dedication extended to 27 years of service with the City of Fridley, retiring in May 1997. Post-retirement, he contributed 20 years at Bob’s Produce Ranch in Fridley, concluding his working years at the age of 85.

Joseph and Janice were founding members of St. Williams Catholic Church in Fridley. In his leisure time, he found joy in playing his concertina/accordion, savoring old-time music, dancing with Janice at the Bel Rae Ballroom, woodworking in his barn workshop, and indulging in popcorn or sweet treats. However, his greatest passion was undoubtedly spending cherished moments with his beloved family.

He is preceded in death by parents Leo and Gertrude Gonsior, sister Lucille Koval, and brother Richard Gonsior. Joseph is survived by his devoted wife Janice, children: Dean (Veronica), Dennis (Julie), Donna, Joseph (Paula), and Robert (Ann). He leaves behind grandchildren: Rudy, Heather (Brannen), Ben, Matt, Noah, Madison (Mitchell), Becca (Bobby), Hannah, Olivia, Allie (Erik), Hope (Ty), Sam, and Wyatt, as well as great-grandchildren: Rohan, Desmond, Riley, and Bowden.

Funeral service to be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the church of St. Williams (6120 5th St NE, Fridley, MN 55432) with visitation starting at 9:30am. Service at 11AM with luncheon to follow. Internment at 2PM at Morningside Cemetery in Coon Rapids, MN.
