John Eugene Miller

Passed away peacefully at home May 16th, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born in Minneapolis, MN.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Lester and Esther Miller, brother Michael Miller. Survived by wife of 68 years Mary Lee (nee McClelland) Miller, Sons David (Barbara) Miller, Stephen Miller and daughter Liz (Doug) Loberg, 6 grandchildren, Dustin Loberg, Andy Loberg, Jennifer (Ryan) Schmitt, Ashley (Darice) Keeling, Michelle (Mike) Connelly and Chris Miller, 10 great-grandchildren, brother Tom (Shirla) Miller, and many friends and relatives.

John graduated from Duluth Central class or “49”. He started his undergrad at UMD, then enlisted in the Air Force in 1950. He served in the Korean War. After 4 years in the Air Force, John returned to the states to continue his college education at Michigan Tech. He graduated with honors in 1957 with a degree in electrical engineering.

John began his career at General Mills in the mechanical division, then changed careers to Litton Industries and finally worked at Control Data in Plymouth until his retirement in 1990. John and Mary Lee spent many winters in Long Beach, MS. John was an avid reader, loved to hunt, fish, cruise, golf and spend time at his summer cabin in northern MN. He also enjoyed volunteering at Loaves and Fishes.

John was a member of St. Williams church in Fridley and the American Legion post 303 in Fridley.

Memorials preferred to the Veterans or Wounded Warriors or the local animal humane society.

Thank you to Heartland Hospice for their care and caring for John.

Funeral Service will be held at St. William Catholic Church on Thursday May 27th at 11am with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A private burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
