Joanne Anderson

Joanne C. Anderson, 73, of Fridley passed away on Thursday, November 5. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 61 Mississippi Way NE, Fridley with visitation one hour prior.

Survived by her husband, LeRoy; sons, David (Paula), Daren (Kathy Love); grandchildren, Sarah, Anya; brother Robert (Bonnie) Hanson; sister-in-law, Deloris Anderson; nieces Sydney Gray, Cheryl Poulin; nephews Lee Southerland, Bobby Hanson and their families. Preceded in death by parents, Ted (Ethel) Hanson.

On February 13, 1942, Joanne Carole Hanson was born to Theodore and Ethel (Swanson) Hanson in Minneapolis. After moving to Mora, she met the love of her life, LeRoy Anderson, in a hayfield. They were united in marriage on June 3, 1961. Shortly after their marriage, LeRoy and Joanne moved to Fridley where they would live together for the next 54 years.

LeRoy and Joanne spent many weekends enjoying polka music and dancing. She loved music, especially playing the accordion. Joanne was a life-long volunteer. She worked with the Boy Scouts, sewed costumes and clothes for many, and baked countless cookies. She provided hair care services to patients at Unity Hospital. Being a true Lutheran, several of her volunteer services were based around food. She cooked and served thousands of meals at Faith Haven Bible Camp, packed meals for Feed my Starving Children, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Service to her church was a high priority for Joanne. She served as president of the LCW, taught Sunday school, and was instrumental in starting Sunday morning coffee time. When not volunteering, she loved baking, knitting (donating many slippers she created), and spending time with her granddaughters.

Joanne could do just about anything she set her mind to. She will be deeply missed.
