Jenny Peterson, 91, formerly of Columbia Heights passed away on Monday, August 31. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3 at Miller Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and continuing for one hour prior to the service at Miller Funeral Home 6210 Highway 65 N.E. Fridley.
On May 30, 1924, Jenny Marie Swanson was born to Edwin Benjamin and Emma Jane (Surdey) Swanson in Grasston, Minnesota. She was raised on a dairy farm where she earned a penny for each row of weeds picked and keeping her curly hair well combed. In 1946, she was united in marriage to Harry Peterson in Pine City. Together with their young children, in 1953 they moved to Columbia Heights. When they retired, they moved to their cabin on Platte Lake staying there until returning to the cities in 1985. After Harry passed, Jenny lived on her own before moving in with her daughter, Becky, with whom she stayed for the next 14 years.
Jenny loved all music and dancing around the house. Once, she even listened to Becky's Lenny Kravitz CD and played air guitar. Jenny enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a giving individual with a great sense of humor who loved to cherish her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky; son, Jeff; grandchildren, Todd, Emily, Jill, Marissa, Madelynn; great-grandchildren, Casey, Torie, Emma, Matthew, Stevie Jo, Ronnie; many nieces and nephews.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Peterson in April of 1997; parents, Edwin and Emma Swanson; son-in-law, Steve C . Land; brother, Earl Swanson; and sister, Margaret Johnson.
