Jean Faye (Reineccius) Thomson age 82, passed away Sunday, December 24 surrounded by her children at the Elim Care and Rehab Center in Princeton, MN. Jean was born July 31, 1935 to Irene Reineccius (From) and Walter Reineccius in Cambridge, MN. She married Melvin Thompson of Zimmerman on August 7, 1954 and this union was blessed with four children. Dean, Sharalyn, Diann and Colleen. Jean spent many fulfilling years working within the local school district as well as M&L Industries in Rogers, MN. Jean delighted in music from an early age and taught herself to play piano by ear despite having all the ivory keys pulled off by her annoyed brother. She also was an accomplished accordion and concertina player and she and Ole spent many happy retirement days traveling to old time music festivals prior to her stroke in 1999. She was an avid gardener and seamstress having once documented sewing more than 1 garment (or tractor heat shield) per week for an entire calendar year. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Melvin as well as her oldest daughter, Shari, tragically lost to lung cancer earlier this year at the age of 54. Also by her parents Irene and Walter, sister Ione Rose, brother-in-law Russell Rose, brother Billy Reineccius, brother-in-law Bill Palmer, brother-in-law Howard Schmiege, sister-in-law Irene Gerth (Lloyd), and brother-in-law Dennis Thompson. She is survived by her sister, Marge Palmer; sister-in-law Veronica Schmiege, sister-in-law Arlene Huntley (Roger), her son, Dean Thompson of Elk River, son-in-law Steve Germscheid of Woodbury, daughters Diann Thompson Korus of Zimmerman, and Colleen Thompson (Mark Benderski) of Spring Lake Park, MN; grandchildren Jacob Reed, Jessica Reed, Brianna Germ-scheid, Katie Germscheid, Alexandra Richter, Elizabeth Germscheid, Cassidy Thompson, and Audrey Benderski as well as great-grandchildren MacKenzie Reed, Kamya Reed, Kaeden Reed, Kianna Reed, Kailihl Reed, and Kody Reed. Memorial Service to be held January 5, 2018 at the Chapel of Elim Care and Rehab Center, 701 First Street, Princeton, MN at 2:00 PM. Graveside service and sharing of memories at the Bradford Roadhouse (former site of the Bradford Store and Bar) following.
