James Rains

It is with great sadness that the Rains family has experienced the passing of James Patrick Rains, their husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. Jim was 80 years old when he passed on December 28, 2016 in Fridley in his home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Minneapolis, he was a graduate of DeLaSalle High School and after a short stint in the Navy and St. John's College, he married Carol Wray and began his lifelong passion in the Elevator Constructors Union working for Westinghouse/Schindler Elevators. Jim was preceded in death by son, James as well as his parents, John and Mabel; brothers, Robert and John. He is survived by his wife, Carol; two children, Paul (Karla) and Ann Marie (Tom); four grandchildren, Katelin (Asa), Christine, Kevin and Natalie; great-grandson James. A Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday 11:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1621 University Ave. NE, Minneapolis, MN. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
