James Neill Gamble, 81, Fridley MN, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024. Born March 4, 1943, in Hallock MN to Alexander “Bo” and Clara (Norberg) Gamble. He started college at the University of North Dakota before attending the University of Minnesota, married Jewell Luane Gustafson on May 2, 1964, and graduated with a major in math; however, it was a minor in geography that he wanted you to know about. With two baby boys, Jim and Jewell moved west to Seattle WA to embark on Jim’s career with Boeing. A year of rain and illness ensued, and the Gamble family moved back to the Twin Cities as Jim began work with Univac, now Unisys, where he stayed until his retirement in 2001.
Jim enjoyed playing and watching sports, a fan especially of the Minnesota Twins. He along with Jewell, was ever-present at his sons’ extra-curricular activities, including coaching youth basketball and baseball in Fridley. He and Jewell continued their gift of support to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was always good for a funny quip, wisecrack and making us all laugh. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survived by wife, Jewell Gamble; sons Brett (Jody) Gamble and Troy (Wendy) Gamble; grandchildren Chelsi (Jeff), Justus (Cassie), Miranda (John), Raina (Max), and Quinn; great-grandchildren Jaylie, Elliya, Mason, James, Ryan, Henrik, and Anthony; sister Donna (Nester) Kohut, and special nieces and nephew.
