Jack Mahaffey

Jack E. Mahaffey was born on Sept. 26, 1937, in Fountain Inn, SC. He slipped away very quietly and peacefully on Sept. 7, 2016, with his wife and daughter holding his hands. Jack was a kind and loving man who touched so many people in his life. He served 4 years in the Air Force; his last station was Finland, MN. It was then that he met his wife, Karen. They were blessed with 56 years together. His life outside of his family included many things. He worked at Western Union for 25 years, was president of Local 8 of the CWA, was a SBM fire fighter for 22 years, retiring as Deputy Chief. His work career continued as an electronic technician until retirement. He went back to work at Lowes and retired again. His family was his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was Papa to so many. Preceded in death by his daughter, Beth; parents; brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Cathie (Rick) Wamsley; son, Tom (Michelle); sisters, Jean (Roy), Annette (Glenn) and Frances (Edward); grandchildren, DJ (Becca) Vadnais, Branden (Angela) Vadnais, Nic (Mike) Zager, Jessica (Mike) Morgan, Drew (Melissa) Mahaffey, Mandy (Josh) Overby; 15 great-grandchildren, with another to arrive in Nov. and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 from 12PM – 2PM, with Memorial Service following at 2 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, MN. Luncheon to follow at Banquets of Minnesota, 6310 Hwy 65, Fridley, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to family. I will love you forever. K.
