Jack Ardoyno, age 70, died in a plane accident in Sarasota, Florida on Saturday, January 12th. Jack was a profoundly loved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and mentor. Jack loved flying, conducting his first solo flight for the Navy in January of 1965 and flying over 200 missions in Vietnam. Continuing his passion for flying as a civilian, Jack built his own Seawind plane and spent many hours sharing his love of flying by teaching others across the country. Jack spent much of his time in Hayward, Wisconsin while maintaining deep ties in his home town of Mobile, Alabama and the Twin Cities. Jack loved to be surrounded by friends and family on the lake, at the dinner table or camp fire, flying, sailing, and telling stories. His humor and love of life was contagious for all who knew him well. Jack had a special place in his heart for children and will be missed, not only by his grandchildren, Logan and Maddie, but by all those in his life who considered him a second father or grandfather. It is comforting to his wife Lyndia and his children, John and Elise, that he lived a full and truly amazing life full of passion and excitement. The people he touched have many wonderful stories to remember him by. He was a trusted and reliable friend, providing support and counsel in times of trouble. The many loved people in Jack Ardoyno's life included his sisters, his nephews, the families from Apple Valley, the friends in Hayward, and the Seawind community. Jack was larger than life, and his absence from this close knit group will be most difficult for us all. The memory of Jack, singing in Italian, laughing and encouraging us to do some crazy adventure we would otherwise never consider, is the cherished memory we will take with us.
