Hastings (nee Reimann)
Irma Kay of Fridley, MN, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at the age of 81. She fought a brave 10 year battle with dementia and died peacefully at JA Wedum Hospice in Brooklyn Park.
Irma was born on October 3rd, 1942 and was raised on a farm in Knoxville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School in 1960. She met Richard Hastings in 1962 when he brought her brother-in-law home from the Navy. It was love at first sight and they married 16 months later on August 24th, 1963. They then moved to Fridley, MN, where she resided the rest of her life. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2023.
Irma was a rare individual, kind, selfless, and humble. She always put others before herself and lived for her family and friends. She asked for nothing and gave everything.
She is survived by her husband Richard Hastings, 3 children David Hastings (Rochelle), Deb Diederich (Paul), and Terri Wold (Kevin), brother Richard Reimann, sisters Sandra Steadman and Mary Tuttle, and 7 grandchildren, Carter Wold (Sammi), Mason Wold, Sydney Hastings, Lilli Wold, Ezra Diederich, Zoe Diederich, and Aaron Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Helen Reimann and brother Robert Reimann.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15th from 5-7pm at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 HWY 65 NE, Fridley. Funeral Services Tuesday, April 16th at 11am with visitation one hour prior all at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 61 Mississippi St. NE, Fridley. Interment Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
