Howard Grindy, at age 90, passed away in Anoka, MN on Sunday, October 8, 2017 joining his deceased wife on what would have been their 68th wedding anniversary. His family was present at his bedside.
He was born July 1, 1927 in Grove Lake, MN to Leonard and Jane Grindy. He attended High School in Glenwood, MN and graduated from North Dakota Agricultural College with a BS degree in civil engineering. On Oct. 8, 1949, he married Phyllis Pierce, they resided most of their married life in Anoka, MN were he had a 34 year career working as the Superintendent of the Anoka Wastewater Treatment Plant.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and storytelling at family gatherings.
He is survived by daughters Linda Anderson, Coon Rapids, MN; Jane (Rob) Hass, Fallbrook, CA; sons Mark (Naza) Brooklyn Park, MN and Dan (Sandy) Moose Lake, MN; one brother, Clifford (Shirley) Grindy, Green Valley, AZ; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his loving wife, Phyllis, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, one granddaughter and his beloved dog Molly.
There will be a open house celebration of his life for family and close friends at his residence in Anoka on Saturday Oct. 14th between 1 and 5 pm. Memorial Services are planned for the end of May at the chapel and cemetery in Grove Lake, MN. At that time, both Howard and Phyllis will be interred together in there final resting place.
