FAMILY REMEMBRANCES
Henry Alphonse Eggert
Born June 7, 1916 on a farm in Silver Lake, MN to John and Anna Eggert. He was the youngest of 9 children and the first to graduate from High School. Class of 1935 with 19 classmates. He played basketball, football, track, and baseball. Acted in Drama Club and had the lead role in "Poor Father."
After graduation he helped on the farm from 1935 to 1938. He wanted to be a Pharmacist. but wasn't able to get the schooling. In 1939 he moved to the Twin Cities and went to Dunwoody Institute to study refrigeration. (1940 to Feb 1942) He was employed by Schaefer Refrigeration, then entered the Army. He served in the invasion of Europe (D Day+4) from June 1944 to Sept 1945. (1946) He went back to work at Schaefer and met Dorothy Romness at a relative's house in Highland Park. (1947) He married Dorothy and moved to St. Paul (Rice St. & Edmund.....Frogtown today) and immediately started a family. Henry loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. In 1953 was shot deer hunting. He loved cars, buying a new one every year early on and then every 3 years.
The family moved to Fridley in 1964 in time for the 1965 tornados. The family was almost blown away. He lived there the rest of his life.... 47 year in Fridley.

4 children: John, Angela, Brian and Stephen. 6 Grand children: Jeff, Matt, Cheryl, Katie, Adam & Paige
5 Great-Grandsons: Peter, Luke, Charlie, Grant & Vincent.

Eggert, Henry A. age 95 of Fridley. Preceded in death by granddaughter, Pamela Ninno; son-in-law, Anthony Ninno. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy; children, Stephen (Mary), John (Karen), Angela Ninno, Brian (Rosanne); grandchildren, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Eggert, Cheryl (Marc) Kozak, Katie (Bill) Pomerleau, Matthew (Rachel) Eggert, Adam Eggert (Jade Zurn), Paige Eggert; great-grandsons, Peter, Luke, Charlie & Grant Eggert and Vincent Pomerleau. Mass of Chirstian Burial Thursday 11 AM with visitation one hour prior at the Church of St. William, 6120 5th Ave. NE, Fridley. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
