Helen was born January 31, 1920, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. As a child she did much work on the family farm, including raising chickens, milking cows and putting up hay for the livestock.
She was united in marriage to Walter M. Lusian on June 21, 1948, in Beaulieu, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis for one year and then purchased their home in Fridley on Baker Avenue where they lived for the rest of their married life.
She took care of her husband who had polio since 1954, and raised seven children. There were always home baked goodies after school and she was a wonderful cook. Some of the jobs she worked at in addition to the home were: bakery, Sears, reupholstering furniture, ironing and cooking. She gardened, canned as well as froze vegetables and apples. She had a beautiful yard and trees that she took great pleasure and pride in. In her senior years she sold the home and moved into an apartment at Norwood Square in Fridley. She enjoyed volunteering at the senior center, sewing quilts, making walker and wheelchair caddies, folding the church bulletins and helping at bake and craft sales. Besides her hard working life, Helen enjoyed reading, playing cards and bingo with her many friends and family.
Her faith got her through many difficult times in her life. She was a loving, faithful, and loyal wife, mother, sister and friend.
