Gregory Allan Wells of Fridley, Minnesota passed away June 10th, 2014. Greg passed after an 8-month battle with cancer due to exposure of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. He passed away in the home he lived in with his wife and children for 17 years. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. He was born April 18, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1965. Greg enlisted in the Marine Corps on August 26th, 1965. He was wounded in action near Quang Tri, Vietnam when he suffered a shrapnel wound to the right temporal lobe. He was a decorated veteran and received multiple awards including a Purple Heart for his service. Following his service in Vietnam, he attended St. Johns University for his undergraduate degree, then studied for and received his Master's degree in social work from St. Louis University. He worked for 30 plus years as a social worker in child protection and was extremely well loved by his co-workers and dear friends. He was a caring and loving man who adored his family and was loyal to his friends. He loved winter camping, sailing and spending time with his grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Twin Cities for their loving care as well as Greg's co-workers and friends who provided unlimited support and assistance throughout his battle with cancer. Greg is survived by his wife and partner Stephanie Wells, his children Rachel Blodgett (Michael), Anthony Wells (Emily), Grandchildren Charles, Violet, Iris Blodgett and Gregory Wells. As the eldest brother he is survived by his sisters Cynthia O'Malley (Scott), Mary Wolverton (Robert), Jennifer Wells, and brother Ronald Wells. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Marjorie Wells and by his younger sister Jean Beaubien. The family also wishes to thank the Traumatic Brain Injury clinic of the VA. Memorials preferred to Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. Visitation at Miller Funeral home in Fridley, Monday June 16 from 4-8. Memorial service at St. Clements church in Minneapolis at 10 am, Tuesday, June 17 visitation at 9 am. Internment service will follow at Fort Snelling at 12:15.
