Gloria Wilcox

Gloria Mae Anderson Wilcox went to heaven May 31, 2016 at the age of 94 years. She was born May 28, 1922 on the farm in rural North Branch, MN to Hugo and Amanda (Olson) Anderson, the eighth of nine children. She attended the country school –located on the farm property. Graduated from North Branch High School in 1940 and then on to business school in Minneapolis. Her first job was with National School Studios printing pictures. Then she went to work for Northwestern National Life Insurance for 6 yrs. On Feb. 2, 1946 she married her sweetheart Harold Wilcox at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church. They lived and worked in Minneapolis. In 1948, they moved to Mounds View and Gloria quit work to start a family. In 1962, when all 3 children were in school, she went to work at Red Oak School, and later returned to work at Northwestern National Life in 1968. She retired in 1984. Gloria loved to travel, from state and national parks to Scandinavia, Europe and the Holy Land. She developed a love for lighthouses; so many trips included searches for more lighthouses to visit. Her mother taught her how to knit, crochet and sew, and she enjoyed sewing and knitting clothes for her family as well as creating beautiful quilts. She was active at SLP Lutheran/Abiding Savior in so many ways. She lived life to the fullest.

Gloria is survived by 2 daughters, Wendy (Paul) Lindberg and Janet Wilcox; grandchildren Chad (Jenny), Nathan (Krystal), Alison (Joshua), Nicholas (Sarah); great-grandchildren Joseph, Eleanor, Peter, Daniel, Eli and angels in heaven Rayna and Little One.

Preceded in death by husband Harold, son Jerome, sisters Ethel, Evelyn, Lulu, Louraine, Doris; brothers Morris, Edwin, Gerald.

Funeral service on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive Mounds View, MN 55112. Interment at Sunrise Cemetery, North Branch, MN.
