Gloria Dwire

Gloria Ann (Nielsen) Dwire was born March 31, 1933 in Luck Wisconsin to Einar and Henrietta Nielsen. She graduated from Milltown High School and met her husband of 58 years while working in Minneapolis Minnesota. They were married in 1954. They adopted two children, Mike and Melanie. The family made their home in Fridley Minnesota for 59 years and were active members of St. Philips Lutheran Church for many years.

Mom worked at Maid of Scandinavia for the majority of her working life. When her husband Harold had a major stroke she also became a full-time caregiver and through her love and devotion allowed Harold to remain at home and enjoy a full and active life.

Gloria enjoyed spending time with her children and her granddaughter Kanya Dwire. She also loved taking walks with church friends and her good friend and neighbor Dian Larson. She was active in the church and enjoyed not only the culture found in her church but also the close friendships that developed over the years.

She enjoyed watching sports, particularly Vikings football and had a rivalry with her sister-in-law, Markie Dwire, who lives in Santa Fe New Mexico. For some unknown reason Markie is a Broncos fan!

She was preceded in passing by her husband, Harold; her parents Einar and Henrietta Nielsen; her brother-in law Bill Dwire; brother-in-law Jack Sazma; and sister-in-law Jessie Robertson. She is survived by her children, Mike and Melanie; granddaughter, Kayna & fiance', Mark Robinson; brother, Roger Nielsen and wife Joan; sister, Claire Sazma; and brother, LuVerne Nielsen and wife Judy; along with many nephews and nieces, and very much-loved family and friends.

Memorial service Friday, March 15th, 2019 - 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 6180 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley (763) 571-1500. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
